Tom got up from his desk in an attempt to stretch out his weary body. He glanced at his watch and saw that it was past midnight...again. How many days in a row had this been going on? Too many for Tom to remember offhand. He felt like he hadn’t seen his wife for weeks, which was the case. Caffeine was what Tom needed right now.

He strolled down the hallway to the office kitchen when he heard someone call his name. Tom quickly turned around to see that he wasn’t the only one burning the midnight oil. The other analyst on his project, Dave, was heading towards the kitchen, too.

‘Hey, buddy! What are you still doing here?’ said Tom.

‘Probably the same thing you are, Tom. Is it just me or have you forgotten what your house looks like?’

‘No shit, Dave. I don’t even think I’d recognize my wife even if she walked in here and bit me on the ass. Does your wife get as cranky as mine when you have to pull these allnighters?’

‘Well, I’m not married so I don’t have to worry about that. Although I’m sure my dog misses me.’ Dave said with a chuckle. ...
