Last winter, my husband injured his back while doing snow removals one evening. The injury was so bad that he would require surgery, ultimately putting him out of work for six months or so. The problem with all this was that he owned and ran his own landscape company here in town and being out of work for an extended amount of time could cost him his business. There's no way his customers would be able to sit around and wait for him to recover because grass grows pretty quickly and they would ultimately need someone to take care of it. We sat and discussed this before his surgery and weren't sure as to what we would do. We obviously didn't want him to lose his business but at the same time there was no way he would be able to work. As we discussed this with friends and family, word got around and one day we received a call from my husband's good friend Mike. My husband sat and talked with Mike for close to an hour and after the call, he told me that Mike had offered to come up with his friend Nick and run my husband's company while he was recovering. We were both happy about this and at the same time realized what a sacrifice his friends would be making. They both had jobs and families of their own, and would be doing this on their time. Mike said that they would both come up after working their regular jobs each day, and tend to my husband's landscape duties until it got dark each night. They were willing to do all this and give up their free time. We couldn't believe how lucky we were. I would be running the office aspect of it while the guys were out doing the physical work. We were both happy and it really put my husband at ease as the date of his surgery eventually came. ...
