I hate going to the dentist. No, I'm not one of those guys who are reduced to a sobbing wreck by the thought of any pain. It's just on a par to getting a tire changed on my car. It takes way longer than necessary with getting to there, waiting around, getting it done, and then getting back to work. I've just got better things to do with my life.

The one saving grace is that, in the same way tire companies have attractive receptionists, my dentist seems to have a great taste in dental nurses, or whatever they are called. He's a 50-year old guy and they are always attractive under-30 Asians. I think they are Filipina. Maybe there are special schools in the Philippines where they train, so they can get on the track to a green card. All credit to him, if I were a 50-year old dentist, then I'd pick cute girls to work with too.

So I needed a tooth filling. A pretty Filipina I don't remember seeing before takes me to the chair.

"What's your name?" I ask.

"Divina."

"That's ‘divine' in Spanish. You are a goddess apparently. Does it mean something different in Tagalog?"
