Snowed in

December is always for some reason my loneliest time of the year. Every year, I spend two days out of the sixteen days off with my family. The rest of the time is spent, alone. Sometimes I enjoy the time off and like to be alone, but there are some days where being alone isn't so much fun. This time around was no different. I had been alone for five days straight, and even with calling the family once a day, left me staring at the walls.

Then by some miracle December 30th, I had received an email from my boss asking me to swing by the school and to pick up the mail and to put it in her office. Since I lived two streets away from the building and my boss lived a good half away, I knew why she'd asked. The thing she explained was that, the delivery would be anywhere between 9 am and noon and with the announced snow storm, there was no way the delivery would be on time, but I got a thermos of tea ready and walked in the snow towards the school.

The walk was short, but the wind was picking up and I was glad when I finally unlocked the door, turned on the lights and removed my coat and boots. Usually, I would have walked to my classroom and put on my shoes, but it was vacation time and there was no one else in the school.
