For me, the two frustrating drawbacks of our government's lockdowns were 1. not seeing and interacting with my work colleagues and 2. missing out on my weekend adventures when I'd pick up guys for casual sex.

There was, strangely enough, a third. One I had little cause to give thought to at first and for some time to come. It was only when I had need to use the bathroom, go to the kitchen or my bedroom that it slowly became evident.

The hall!

Naturally, I had carpet laid in my main two living rooms - lounge and bedroom. It wasn't until I found myself having to work from home, while ever since I moved into my apartment I've always had a job, that I found myself thinking and eventually saying, "I must get something for the hall."

I had the money I'd planned for a summer holiday in 2020, almost a grand (£1,000), on top of my savings from work, and so the more I found myself walking down the bitty hall, remnants from the previous tenant, the more I leaned towards getting a hall covering.

Which one, though, carpet or lino was my next big decision, yet to come ...
