TWO WEEKS LATER

Shanice stood at her front door, watching Dierk's truck roll into her yard. He was taking his time getting out of his truck. Was his hesitation connected to his absence? Two entire weeks without a word from him. Two weeks of not hearing from Dierk had driven her out of her mind.

He stepped out of his truck and the low evening sunlight created a halo behind his head. His t-shirt clung to his broad chest. His cloth of the shirt appeared to struggle to fit around his thickly muscled biceps. The way those jeans were molding his family jewels made her mouth water. A sigh of frustration. She really missed him.

Dierk swaggered up to her porch to the screen door where she stood. She narrowed her eyes at him. The screen door was locked. His nearness was making it hard for her to focus and concentrate.

"Come on now, Sweets. I want to apologize for being such an asshole. Unlock the screen. Let me apologize the right way."
