I was finishing up a sidewalk, after one heck of a snowstorm this past February and was exhausted. We had received close to 30 inches and after tending to my usual customers, I went over to my sister's house, to help her out, as well as a few of the old neighbors where I grew up. As I was wrapping up with what I was doing, I noticed one of my old neighbors, whose name was Barbara, across the street trying to figure out how she was going to clear the snow from the driveway apron. The snowplows that had cleared the road, and made a good 5-foot-high snowbank, and with the plastic shovel she had in her hand, it was going to take her several days to clear that up.

Now, normally, I would run over with my snow blower and help her out since she was one of my old neighbors. Unfortunately, she wasn't always the friendliest neighbor when I was growing up, which is why I was still standing across the street. We used to call her the cat lady, because she would often walk her cat around on a leash. I had interacted with her several times, when I was a kid, because I would help her landlord on a regular basis, mowing the lawn and other household duties to make a few bucks. Barbara lived up on the second floor, where she rented an apartment by herself. We would interact, especially in the summertime whenever I would sit out on her landlord's stoop at night. A group of us would hang out on the stoop and listen to the old man tell stories. It was a quiet neighborhood, and that was about as exciting as our summer nights got.
