As Jack showered, Angie slipped into a short, floral dress she'd picked out just for this trip. It felt breezy and free, far shorter than anything she'd wear at home.

Touching up her makeup, she felt physical satisfied in a way she hadn't in some time. It wasn't Tom's fault, she thought. He loved her. He loved her in a way no one else could, and she wouldn't trade it for the world.

But there was more to her, and the first hours of her week away reminded her of the whole woman she used to be.

Before long, Jack appeared behind her in a beige linen shirt that hung perfectly from his broad shoulders. It was time for dinner.

Jack tried to take her hand, as they made their way through the dimly lit pathways towards the resort restaurant, but she pushed him aside. The mental clarity of their post arrival-sex left her trying to figure out how to square all this. She was here, by choice, and she wanted to stay and enjoy everything the week could be, but she didn't want to act like a couple, per se. She wasn't WITH Jack, she told herself.
