When Randy Davis made the transition from retail sales to office sales, he foresaw his role and ambitions, despite his age, as slightly higher than that of an office junior.

Randy, you see, at the age of 23, was the salesman of the year at his previous employment. With the award sitting on his mantelpiece, he felt he had archived all he could, and rightly so. He yearned, though, for a different challenge, in sales, yes, but on a different level.

He looked up sales as a profession on the internet's many job sites, searching for a vacancy that was within travel distance of where he lived, rural Kent.

While most were in big cities, London, Manchester and Birmingham, he found two that were near him and paid well; well above his current wage.

He applied for both, the second as a back up in case he failed with one, and soon found himself working for a Miss Carla Robertson, a boss he had yet to meet, personnel being responsible for job interviews and hiring staff.
