Tommy Reynolds had once said to one of his team, Team G.O.L.D. "who'd want to sleep with a fat ginger nuts like me?" Gloria, the medical professional of his team had said, "if you're a gentleman and considerate, plenty. Women can't afford to be as picky as they once were." Tommy himself resolved to get himself in shape. He told Gloria that he'd like to get in shape, did she know any good gyms?

"You're in luck Tommy. A friend of mine, Louise Farley has a large gym, and it has just about every type of equipment you can name. I'll give her a call and ask if she can help you."

Gloria drove to a large gym in the northern suburbs of Perth. White Swan Gym billed itself as "transforming lives." It was a very inclusive place. If you made fun of someone obese on a treadmill, you could expect to be thrown out and to never return. Gloria walked him to the door and introduced him to Louise, a tall woman with ash grey eyes, long blonde hair and a pale complexion. She wore a crop top and bike shorts that advertised the fact that if she had any body fat, it was a miniscule amount. She shook hands and gave him a million dollar smile. "Pleased to meet you Tommy. How much do you know about body building?"

"Body building?"

"Call it the ‘starting point' of cutting fat from your body. The harder you work each muscle, the greater the potential of losing fat in that part of the body. What's your personal goal?"

"I don't want to look like a pro body builder, no offence, but I'd like to lose all this excess fat and replace it with muscle. Nothing extreme, just to get into shape. While the Australian Army encouraged you to get into shape, where was no specific programme laid out for you to do that."

"I think I know what you have in mind. Follow me. Thanks for introducing me to him Gloria."

Louise explained that you can't just start grabbing weights and going nuts. You have to work your way up to it. "How's your fitness in general?" She asked. "By that I mean how long does it take for you to get out of breath?"

"I can run about half a kilometre before I have to stop, but running doesn't seem to shed much weight on me. All it seems to do is strain my knees."

"It's a good start Tommy. I'm not trying to insult you, but most people of your build wouldn't get 50 metres before they're out of breath. The spin bike will be for clearing your arteries, and a combination of aerobics, Yoga and weight training is what I recommend to ‘overhaul' you."

"How much do you charge?"

"Charge? No, you're doing ME a favour by choosing to work out here. Blokes are a rare commodity, so to have one in the gym will bring me business. Don't worry about money, you'll be generating me money."

"OK, where do we start?"

In the space of a 8 months, Tommy began to notice his clothes getting baggier. He had more stamina than ever. He could bench press more weight with either his arms or legs than ever before. Where flab once covered his body, toned muscle replaced it. He'd never been a gym junkie before, but under Louise's guidance, it had become fun. Other members of the gym enjoyed having him around, as he was always helpful, and of course being the only bloke meant that many eyes were upon him.

One afternoon, Louise introduced Tommy to a new member. Darlene Jacobs was a Size 18, out of shape and determined to do something about it. Everyone has their preferences when it comes to appearances, but with her long red hair, clover green eyes and curves, Tommy found her attractive. Louise recommended she hit the spin bike and work her way up to the aerobics sessions. The whole time, Tommy encouraged her. When it looked like she was giving up, he'd make her laugh, or tease her. "If you finish this set, I'll take my shirt off." "If you get to this
