Pen Pal - An Age Gap Story - Part 1 - The Spark
Jim's world changed that day walking into the Cafe during lunch when he crossed paths with a previous high school classmate, Eric. Grabbing a quick sandwich, they sat down at a booth and started catching up.
As they both ate, they talked about retirement approaching and reminisced about their younger years 4 decades earlier!
The topic of dating back in the day before the internet and smartphones was limited but so much more genuine!
They laughed, as Eric talked about all of these current "dating" sites, where the woman was 50 but her profile pictures looked like she was in her 20's! Eric went on to describe this as the era of AI, bots and fake accounts.
Jim went on to say Cheryl, his wife, was a workaholic and he just missed chatting and having conversations with smart, intelligent and sensitive women. Where he worked, the workforce slowly got smaller as remote contractors were used for all major projects. He missed face to face contact or even intelligent discussions via email or Zoom.
Eric started chuckling as he pulled up a website and within a minute, he was being flooded with requests to 'chat' from very young and very sexy women!
Eric immediately said, "Avoid this site! You have to purchase tokens which are used to send a message, look at a photo or even send your own messages! It's such a big ripoff, especially considering AI bots are often answering your messages. It's very sophisticated".
"OMG, I never knew anything about this! I would only be interested in a pen pal or making a good friend!"
"They definitely will appeal to your sense of loneliness and learn your dark interests quickly, getting you chatting and spending all sorts of money just to continue feeding what's missing! The first time I got on, within one hour, I had more offers than all of the women I knew my entire life!"
"OMG, well, you were always the lady's man!"
"Even James Bond couldn't beat that record! They even send sexy nude pictures of themselves."
"Really, is this AI generated too?"
"Who knows! I never trusted anything I see or hear on the internet anymore!"
"There is one place, which might work for you! I came across it because of my girlfriend. She is a romance author and often went to this site for 'inspiration' for bedroom scenes!"
"You have to send me some of the titles of the books she wrote!"
"Sure thing, start off on this site and read some of the story genres you are interested in and send feedback to the authors. They are very responsive and after a while, you can even start up a friendship! After-all, this is how I found my girlfriend! Hey, I didn't tell you, we are engaged now!"
"Congratulations, I need to meet this lady someday!"
"Oh, you will, she is meeting me here for lunch in about 10 minutes! No off color comments or talking about our high school and college days ok?"
"Absolutely, what was the name of that website again?"
Pulling out a pen, he wrote down the full url from memory with his fiance's username on the site.
