A HOT SUMMER AT SARAH'S HOUSE

Chapter 8

Putting Things Right

* * * * *

This is what happened at the end of the last episode:

Michelle pointed to a dark cloud formation that almost completely covered the horizon. Meanwhile, a strong wind had picked up, accelerating the sailboats and pushing them along. Some of the sailing students panicked, so the instructor had to struggle to give the necessary instructions through his megaphone, which eventually helped everyone lower the mainsail. Only one of the sailing students was a bit clumsy and rammed the boat dock rather roughly while attempting to dock. Michelle had to laugh out loud when the boy lost his balance and almost fell overboard.

"That guy looks just like my dance partner Rick!" Michelle remarked, still laughing.

At the same moment, a loud blast came from the megaphone: "MAN, RICK, can't you pay more attention! Do you want to learn to sail or would you rather sink your boat?"

Suddenly, all the color drained from Michelle's face. She stared at Sarah with wide-open eyes.

"I'm going crazy, THAT IS RICK!"

* * * * *

And this is how the story continues:

"Of course it's him!" Sarah replied with a broad grin. "And that's exactly why I drove you here to Schluchsee, so that you could finally get back together with the boy I believe you're still in love with!"

"What? Did you deliberately orchestrate all this?"

"Well, I wouldn't really call it orchestrated, but after you were so heartbroken over Rick, I just had to do something!"

"But how did you manage all this?"

Sarah told her how she had found Jan's number in her phone memory and had spoken to his mother on the phone. Michelle listened to the whole story, still unable to believe what was happening.

"Sarah, that's really sweet of you, but you could have warned me. Where will I stand now if Rick sees me in this bikini? I'm practically naked!"

"Well, if I put myself in Rick's shoes, I could well imagine you'd hook him immediately if he saw you in that incredibly hot thing!" Pia chimed in.

"Do you really think so?"

"Oh, hello!" Sarah agreed with Pia. "His swim trunks will probably feel a little tight when he sees you, but we'll see about that soon!"

A little way away from them, Rick awkwardly tried to tie his boat to the dock. His sailing instructor's reprimand had made him blush with shame and contributed to the fact that he suddenly couldn't even recall the simplest bowline. The wind had increased in strength so much that the boats were rocking violently and banging against the dock.

"Attention, group two! Attention, group two!" blared loudly from the sailing instructor's megaphone. "Due to the approaching storm, further lessons are canceled today!"

"Great!" Pia fretted. "That would have actually been my last lesson
