Vanessa called Trent from the kitchen island while Alan listened on speaker and Alice painted her toenails on the couch. Trent picked up on the second ring. He'd been waiting.

"So," Vanessa said, keeping her voice light. "You mentioned a party."

"Saturday night. My investors are flying in from Rio. Three guys, very successful, very generous... and very handsome. I'm hosting them at a penthouse suite downtown. Dinner first, then the after-party." He paused. "I want you and Alice there. All night."

"All night is expensive."

"I'm aware."

Alan scribbled a number on a notepad and slid it across the counter. Vanessa glanced at it. She didn't blink. "Twenty-five thousand. Cash. For both of us."

There was a silence. Then Trent laughed, the kind of laugh meant to tell her the number was absurd. Vanessa waited. She'd watched enough of Alan's work calls to know that the person who speaks first after a number loses.

Trent spoke first. "That's steep."

"You're asking for both of us for the entire night. I think you know we don't cut corners. That's the price."

More silence. She could hear him breathing. Calculating.

"Fine," he said. "Twenty-five. But I have a condition."

Vanessa raised an eyebrow at Alan. "Go ahead."

"I want the blonde. One-on-one. At some point during the evening, I want time alone with Alice."

Alice looked up from her toenails. A smirk crossed her face. She mouthed: He can't afford me. But she was already nodding.

"We can do that," Vanessa said. "But we have conditions too. First: My husband needs to have a live camera feed from the penthouse as a safety measure."

"A camera? I don't want my investors on film—"

"It's a private feed, one person monitoring it for our safety. It's either that or we hire security to escort us, but I don't think that 's the kind of party you're hosting."

Trent exhaled. "Okay. Fine. What else?"

"Alice films her one-on-one with you. She uses the footage for her content."

"What content?"

"Her OnlyFans page. Your face won't be in it. She'll crop or blur. But the footage is hers."

A longer pause. "You're telling me I'm paying twenty-five grand to fuck a woman who's going to turn around and sell the video?"

"I'm telling you that's the deal. Take it or leave it."

He took it.

After the call, Alice capped her nail polish and stretched her legs across the coffee table. "He sounded desperate."

"He's trying to close a deal," Alan said. "These investors are important to him. He wants them happy."

"What do we know about these guys?" Vanessa asked.
