It was such a good meal. What made it even better was that I didn't have to lift a finger preparing dinner. He had made his "special secret recipe" chicken for me. As we lingered over a cup of coffee, I mentioned that good manners dictated that I should probably do the cleanup. He felt as though I was probably right "at least in his opinion." Rolling my eyes at him, I began gathering up the plates, glasses, and silverware. Carrying them into the kitchen, I sat them down and began the post dinner ritual of commenting how sad it was that the dishwasher had died so suddenly last month.

Filling the chicken pan with hot, soapy water. I wandered into the living room to turn on the stereo. Seeing him lounging on the couch with a cigarette and a far away look, I decided I would much rather be lying there with him relaxing than anywhere near the kitchen and a sink full of dirty dishes. So luring him into the kitchen to help becomes my ultimate goal.
