Lori’s legs

Nervously, I knocked my fist on the apartment door. It was one in the morning. I had the three-hundred-page report tucked firmly under my arm.

The doorknob turned. Lori stood barefoot in her doorway, wearing a baggy green t-shirt that barely reached down to her hips. Tall and leggy, she’s got short brown hair and a bright smile. “Hi, Mike,” she said with a yawn.

I held the folder up in my hand.

“Thank God,” she said. “Is everything there?”

Pulling the data together had taken us all day at the office; I’d brought it home to lay out and print, and the process had consumed the entire night. The corporation needed it first thing tomorrow morning.

“It better be. I’m not doing it over again.” I held the folder out to her.
