My divorce had just been finalized. I was devistated. 32 years old, alone and just about as low as a man can get. All that was left for me now, or so I thought, was to plunge myself into my work and try and recover from the brutal whipping I had recieved from my wife's lawyer. She had really taken me to the cleaners. The house, 3 cars, most of my investments, our bank accounts. And on top of all that, I still was deeply in love with her. Luckily three days later I was called by a firm in Palm Beach to supervise a project which would take me away from Sarasota and Julie. That was what I needed, to just get away and work. I had been on the job now for two weeks and had fallen into my routine. I was not accustomed to doing field work, but that was my new job. I was responsible for the installation of one half the landscaping of a new public garden. The project was slated for a four year stint. It is to be one of the most impressive collections of native flora in the southern part of the state. I had been so much overwhelmed by the size of the project that it was virtually impossibe for me to think about anything else.
