This past fall, my wife and I vacationed at a popular East Coast beach resort. We like this particular town in the fall, after the main summer rush is over. It is a very quaint city, and this fall was unseasonably warm. We were staying at one of the most popular “bed & breakfasts” in the country, and it was quite expensive but well worth the cost.

As we sat in the great room, enjoying the complimentary wine and cheese. There were several other couples, all guests at the facility, also enjoying themselves and getting to know each other. We shared a large couch with a very attractive black couple in their mid-thirties as we made plans for the evening. I overheard the other couple, Jim and Diane, talking about their car. Apparently, it had broken down and they had to have it towed to a shop for repairs, and they were limited to whatever was within walking distance. This time of year, most nearby places were closed. Before going on with the story, I must describe my wife and I, and update you on our recent past. We are in our mid-fifties, but look much younger. I could pass for early forties and Susan could easily pass for thirty-five. I am 5’9” and slightly over weight, 210 pounds. I work out some to keep from getting really fat.
