Summer Storm

Swearing softly under my breath as the lightning flashes nearby once again, I shudder and jump tensely as I peer through the windshield at the pouring rain. The storm had caught me by surprise, one of those bad summer storms that seem to pop up out of nowhere and now traveling on the backroad on my way home I was wishing that I had taken Melissa's advice and stayed put for the night. Coming around a sharp turn in the road, a shadow ahead catches my attention but before I can react I hit the fallen tree and another loud curse escapes me as I rock forward in my seat.

Shaken but not hurt I slowly climb out of my truck and groan loudly in frustration. The front end of the truck is hung up on the tree and there's no way for me to back it off. Climbing back into my truck to call for help I realize that I've left my cell phone behind and swear softly. Looking around the area, I see a light shining dimly through the trees. It doesn't look too far away so I decide to take the chance and see if anyone there can help me out. Walking toward the light, a small cabin gradually comes into view and I approach the door a little nervously.

Knocking loudly, I nearly give up as there's no answer but as I turn to go the door opens. Glancing back over my shoulder, I see the dark outline of someone standing there and take a step closer. A low gasp ...
