Lost....and Found

Sheri swore out loud as she pounded the steering wheel. “Damn this old heap.” It was almost midnight, she was lost, and now the car had quit. Somehow she had made a wrong turn and ended up in the middle of nowhere. The only thing that she knew about her location was a sign she had passed several miles back. She was in some state park. “Great! Just great!”

Since she knew absolutely nothing about cars, Sheri just sat there and fumed. As her eyes adjusted to the total darkness of the night, she thought she saw some sort of light in the distance; not really a light but more of a glow. She reviewed the facts, as she knew them, and surmised that if she were in a state park, the glow she saw just might be a campfire.

The tiny, key-ring flashlight didn’t give much light but it allowed Sheri to follow the road without falling off the side. Soon she could see that the glow was indeed a fire. As she moved cautiously forward she was able to make out a fairly large tent and then two people. Both were women. Sheri felt instantly safer and began to move a bit faster. ...
