The convention had me running ragged all day and night. Exhausted was the only feeling I had. Sleep was all I wanted. I found my hotel room key and didn't even turn on a light. I left my bag on the floor, kicked off my shoes, dropped my suit jacket, pulled off my tie . . .

I don't remember anything else.

The next thing I remember is the light. Right on my face. And it was warm in the room. My body was wrapped up in blankets and pillows were stuffed under my head. The clock on the night table read 9:27. Bob Miller had convention duty this morning. I was relieving him at 3.

Sleep. I was so comfortable and relaxed. I did make an effort just to remove my suit pants, pull off my socks and finish unbuttoning my shirt. Once I was down to my boxers, I slid under the covers and went back to my lazy snooze.

A little while later, I awoke to some noise in the room. Nothing startling, just a bump or something. I looked up with one eye and saw a housekeeper, who had her back turned to me. She took some towels off her cart and headed into the bathroom.
