This is the first time I've written anything like this. It is basically a true story, though names have been changed for obvious reasons. I'm sure you've all heard the stories about what goes on in a jail. You go in, they put you in a jumper, usually torn somewhere (those damn tax dollars not at work for you). Well, that's not how it happened to me. This is a story of what happened on Sep. 11, 2001, and continued for about a week.

It all started as I was hitchhiking north, currently in Santa Rosa. A cop pulled me over and was doing a "routine" drug check. Of course I didn't have any, but I was nervous nonetheless. You see, I had a knife in my pack. It was eight inches long, and double sided. I'm not a very dangerous person, I just like knives, not to mention it would provide some nice protection should I get accosted in my sleep. Anyway, the cop asked me if I had any contraband on me, and since he was about to search my pack anyway, I told him about the knife. Needless to say it's considered a "deadly weapon".
