To the disappointment of all the boys, Alicia was now a one-man woman. They would end up in each other's bed on the weekend, even earlier if one of their fathers was not home and they could not help themselves. However, the start of the baseball season became an obstacle to their frequent rendezvous. Nonetheless, their love grew and deepened as they got to know each other. They already had in common that their fathers were widowers, and they quickly found they shared tastes in music, movies, and of course, sex. They rarely did it in the car and then only if they had nowhere else to go. They decided on not taking the chance to be discovered by spending the night at one another's house; this meant Johnny went home from her house or took Alicia home from his. They would rarely limit themselves to a couple of positions. Their lovemaking usually included all the games and practices of their first time.

Although they were looking forward to spend spring break together, Jack reminded Alicia that he was planning to take her with him to Philadelphia. Johnny told Alicia it was all right; after all, he could use spending some time with his father too.
