Janet had wandered aimlessly through the mall for hours. Her search for the perfect birthday present was still coming up empty. Her husband's birthday was in a few weeks, and she hadn't a clue of what to get him. He already had all the toys and gadgets so dear to many men, that wasn't what he needed. Ditto for sporting goods, the last time Janet tried to buy him something as simple as a fishing rod turned into an unmitigated disaster. The season for his favorite team was over too, ending in a heartbreaking playoff defeat. He had moped for days after that, Janet thanked her lucky stars that he wasn't a gambling man, else they'd surely be in debt. Enough was enough, she strolled over to the food court for a snack and a break. Getting herself a snack was no problem, there were ample kiosks available with all sorts of goodies. Finding a seat was somewhat more problematic, the place was packed. People were all over the place, there wasn't a table to be found.
