The day I met Jessica (and Steve)

I was quickly discovering that Alabama can be a lonely place. Nothing like we see on TV shows over in England, no sign of Phoebe in a cafe bar strumming her guitar while her "friends" slouch on a settee nearby . No sign of the bar with its homespun philosophies that we see in Cheers. Oh people were friendly enough and I should be having " A nice Day " till I die but I couldnt relax.

I was in America to watch one of my acts (Im an Entertainment Agent ) trying to make it big in America , he had a good following in England , Alabama was the only place I had been able to get him a string of bookings in America, my contacts werent good enough to secure Vegas or anywhere in California but we decided Alabama was a start.

The trouble was once he had been taken in hand in Alabama there was nothing else for me to do other than wait for the commissions to roll in so here I was trying to amuse myself in the bars.

They seemed to be either full of young kids or old folk and I just couldnt fit in with either group so I didnt hold out a lot of hope as I walked into this one .

Something about the atmosphere was different , for the first time I felt a real welcome and wow they sold Scottish and Newcastle Brown Ale , now ...
