Have you ever woken in the morning and not known what it is that woke you up? It's earlier than usual, but something definitely had the effect of making you regain consciousness. Maybe it's a sound, a noise, or unexpected light - it could be anything. So you are lying there, eyes closed, partly trying to get back to sleep and partly trying to work out what could have woken you.

This happened to me two mornings ago, and since then my life has changed dramatically.

Three days ago, it was a Tuesday, the day started as usual. I got up, went to work, came home, got a beer from the fridge expected to sit and watch TV for the evening. Of course, when you expect to do something it never works out that way and this evening was the same. Just as I sat down, remote control in one hand, beer in the other, the phone rang.

I answered it and it was my friend Maddi. She asked if she could come and stay for a few nights. I wasn't surprised, she liked change and never even stayed in the same flat for more than a few months before moving on. I had a spare room with a bed so it was no problem for me.
