The Hike

Sharon was almost three quarters of the way up the mountain trail that she tried to hike every Saturday. This was the tension release that she looked forward to every week. Being the owner of a growing company took its toll on her mind and body. This was a particularly bad week with vendor problems that seem to never end. As she hiked up the mountain she let her mind go numb and the tension seem to go away for a while.

Today was a hot day and she had gone through two bottles of water as she walked. About this time she realized that her bladder was getting full and she was not going to make it to the top of the mountain. She knew she should have stopped and go at the ranger's station when she started but her mind was occupied with work and she forgot about going. She knew a spot where she could go where no one would see her at the top of the mountain but that was not an option now. She started to look for a place to get off the trail and relieve the pressure that was building ever faster. She had to walk on about a half mile more before she saw a trail heading off the main trail so she took it making sure she knew how to get back. The forest was very thick here and it would be easy to get lost. She went a little ways down the trail when she saw a clearing up ahead. As she got closer something caught her eye so she moved behind some bushes to see what it was before she went on. The last thing she wanted to do was to run into a bear and get mauled or worse. She squatted down and moved a branch to see what it was. ...
