Luke

It was my third year at Wichita Falls Summer Camp, and I was really starting to get sick of it. When you go to the same generic summer camp (canoeing, arts and crafts, bad food and no hockey masked psychos taking care of the counselors you don't like) again and again, it's a pretty safe bet that you're going to get bored pretty quickly.

There was one guy in particular who made that third year at camp a little more interesting than usual. His name was Luke. He had first come to the camp the year before, and did not do very well socially. He had been fat and pimple faced, two things that didn't go over very well with the exceptionally shallow campers. He had been pegged as a dork, a nerd, a dweeb (though nobody on camp would be caught dead saying, "dweeb"), and had faded into the background pretty quickly. This Summer, though, he was quite a bit different. Over the course of the school year he seemed to have undergone some sort of self improvement routine, probably because he was sick of being forced into dork stereotypes. His skin had cleared up, and it looked like he had lost some weight. I wasn't entirely sure how much, though, because he seemed to have stuck with the same style of baggy clothes that had once been used to hide his very full figure.

Sadly, even though Luke was no longer fat and no longer acne plagued, he was still not very popular. Like I said, it's pretty hard to break out ...
