Night Shift - Part One

I was singing along to Sweet Emotion by Areosmith, I love that song. I punched the button for my mike and pulled it closer to my mouth. "Q 102 classic rock for Dallas, I'm Kelli Stone with big D weather. Partly cloudy and warm tonight with a low of 78. Partly cloudy and hot tomorrow, slight chance of afternoon thundershowers with a high of near 100. Right now it's 82 at DFW and 80 at Q 102, classic rock for Dallas, Fort Worth giving you the Stones." I punched the button for the computer a few words before I finished my spiel and talked over the intro of Gimme Shelter.

I leaned back and in chair and sighed. It had been another brutally hot day, typical for Dallas for the middle of July. It was ten thirty on this Thursday evening and I was tired. Thursday is my busy day. I go to a local video production studio and do voice overs for a local real estate show. I read descriptions of six homes at a time alternating with Bob Madison. Bob does a Saturday night oldies show on our sister station COOL 92. We try to start them at one P.M. and usually wrap up by three. Then I fight the traffic to get to the station by four to do whatever production I have to do, and if I have time, grab a quick bite before going on the air at seven. My shift is seven to midnight.
