Tina looked at her last unemployment check, and sighed, then picked up the classified ads looking for virtually any kind of work to keep her afloat. There simply wasn't anything in her field of work, and hadn't been for months. Now she was just looking for anything - waitress, receptionist, anything. She almost missed the small ad, which was asking for women to participate in a psychological study. There wasn't much information other than they were willing to pay women to take part in a study, and the study's expected duration was to be a minimum of a month. There was no address, just a phone number, so Tina called. A women's voice answered, indicating that she had reached the Ryerson Research Center. Tina explained that she was responding to the ad in the newspaper, and was put through to another woman, who introduced herself as Abby.

Abby explained that they were doing research into human psychology, specifically into human sexuality, and the effects of isolation on various subjects. The research, as far as Tina was concerned would last for a minimum of a month, and could possibly go for as long as six months or more, depending on what was learned during the study. Tina would be required to live on the Center's grounds for the entire study, and could not have any contact with the outside world during that time. In return for Tina's participation, the Center would pay all of Tina's bills during the study, provide her with six months of expenses after the study was completed, and would, of course, provide all of Tina's meals and other necessary items during the course of the study.
