The wind was from the south, forcing the planes to glide over the city on their way in to the airport. Jeremy had won the coin toss, and ended up in the window seat. He studied his old stomping grounds through the 6x6 window. Twenty years didn't seem too long to him, but his hometown had certainly grown. The radio tower, previously well outside city limits, now sprouted up from the center of a housing cluster. Three new tall buildings rose from former farmland a couple miles beyond the mall, the previous edge of town.

Jeremy and Stan had gone off to college together, back when sticking around town was seen as a death sentence. Four years in California earned them each degrees in management, and after a string of jobs and layoffs the two formed their own dot-com.

"Hey, stop drooling, we're here," Jeremy prodded his partner.

"Uh....huh? Oh...." Stan awoke in time for the lurch of aircraft tires braking, slowing the plane to taxi up to the terminal.

The pair collected their bags and found the Holiday Inn shuttle van.

"Shouldn't we be going downtown?" Stan corrected the driver.

"You guys must not have been here in a couple years. The tore that one down in, 99 I think? Built a new one by the mall." The van sped off ...
