Janet Tait was the 44-year-old executive secretary to the Senior Partner of our Law firm. She had been in that position for 15 years and might as well have been part owner herself. To say she had clout in the firm would be a gross understatement. Not only did she have a direct line to the boss but she was the proverbial 500-pound gorilla. "I'm here to remind you that the corridors of this firm are littered with eager young pups who thought they would make it to the top". The bitch took it upon herself to make our lives a daily hell every time we needed to speak with any of the partners. She would purposely misplace our reports and memo's only to find them the next day. The only people who had no trouble with her were those who bribed her with cookies, flowers, coffee and whatever other goodies she had sitting on her desk.
