THE SUPER BOWL PARTY

When my wife Laura and I invited five couples over for a Super Bowl party a few years ago, we ended up cheering for much more than a football game. Laura and I had dabbled in swinging, but our companions that day were straight friends who did not know about our secret lives. Before the afternoon was over, they would get a little taste of it themselves.

The game turned out to be a dud, and even the half-time show was a disappointment. Consequently, there was more conversation than football and, as is usually the case, the girls were much more talkative than the men. Like any good Super Bowl party, the drink flowed freely. The trunk-load of beer I had carted in for the guys was going fast. The women opted for the excellent Margaritas that Laura concocts and were feeling the effects of the alcohol ahead of the men. If not for that pitcher of extra strong cocktails, I would not be writing this.

Things started to heat up early in the second half as our wives' already salty chatter turned x-rated with the help of my wife's brilliant segues. "I hear the quarterback is hung like a horse," she said. That certainly got the attention of the men, some of whom had been on the verge of dozing off.
