The evening had been a great success so far, everything going to plan but the main event was just about to start.

Twenty people sat round the large oval dining table sipping drinks, nibbling chocolate mints and enjoying conversations. Most only knew one or two others at most, until tonight when they would become very intimate. I recognised a few faces from previous evenings. The time had come to move to another room but first each was given a small card with a number on it. The number wasn't significant, just having to remember whether it was odd or even.

The increase in excitement was palpable as the noise levels of chatter and laughter grew louder. Everyone was there for the same reason but there was still an air of nervousness and anticipation. We met regularly to play 'Naughty" games. Different faces came and went and the numbers had grown over the last year.

Everyone moved from the Dining room to the large room at the front of the house. The door handle squeaking as the door opened to reveal a cosy amber coloured room. A few chairs remained but the rest of the furniture had been removed. Expensive ornaments adorned glass shelves in the alcoves. The thick pile of the carpet sunk beneath your feet as you walked on it. A roaring open fire filled the grate as the reflections of the flames danced across the walls and ceiling. As the log disappeared into a pile of smouldering embers the room grew darker. ...
