Last Night

Mark had already had the car running for a good five minutes. He was tapping his fingers impatiently on the steering wheel as he waited for Mary to come out of the building. He still wasn't sure how he felt about last night, but he was sure that he was mostly pissed at Mary. Maybe. Okay, he wasn't sure about that either. But the lack of sleep left him irritated at best.

Finally she came out of the back door, a large bag of luggage over each arm. "You wanna help me or are you just going to sit there?" Mark sat there. "Fine. At least unlock the door." He at least was willing to do that. Mary flung her bags into the back seat, closed the door, and got in the front seat. Without so much as a word to her, Mark backed the car up and pulled out of the parking lot.

The first ten minutes of their ride to the airport passed in complete silence. It was Mary who finally broke the silence.

"You weren't pissed at me last night."

"Last night, I was drunk. I'm a happy drunk. I don't get mad when I'm drunk."

"So you're going to be mad at me now? When I'm like an hour away from ...
