"Good God!" I exclaimed, searching for and finding the remote to the TV. Hitting the power button, and effectively silencing the yapping news anchor, I mumbled to myself, "no wonder I hate the news. I sure wish they would have something good every now and then. But no! they always save anything like that for the very end, and I can't make it until then."

Stretching on the couch, I thought about turning the TV back on and surfing to see what else I could find. That occupied me for about two seconds. Closing my eyes, I allowed my mind to begin to wander. Something that had happened at work that day flitted into the forefront and I banished that with a quickness! "Out, out I say, no work crap now. I had opened my eyes, and I shook my head softly as if to shake the disturbing thoughts away. Trying to get comfortable again, I laid my head back on the couch, but raised it up with a hiss of pain. I had forgotten the large barrette that was holding my hair up and the metal clasps had reminded me. Realizing I was still holding the remote as well, I tossed it onto the end table. Reaching up and releasing the barrette, I ran my fingers through the length of my hair after gently scratching my scalp.

The warm silence of the house enveloped me as I continued to relax there ...
