A Tale from Wang Li's Sports Bar: John and Peggy

It was not even 6pm and John was already well on his way to getting drunk. He was just approaching Tipsy and heading for Shitfaced as he finished his beer and ordered another. Yesterday was his 22nd birthday, and it was easily the worst birthday he'd ever had. The reason was LeeAnn.

His mind recoiled from the thought of her and the last 2 days. He tried to focus on his surroundings. He was sitting at one end of the bar in Wang Li's Sports Bar which gave him a good view of the room. Thursday was always a slow night and this was no exception. There were maybe 3 small groups at the tables and just a few people at the bar itself. No one was paying any attention to the out-of-state game playing on the TVs.

John surveyed the customers as he downed his beer in frequent long gulps. The groups at the tables were mostly couples or pairs of couples talking quietly. He was alone on the left side of the bar. There was a pair of old men chatting on the opposite side but the most interesting group was the pair of well dressed middle aged ladies in front of the bar. The blond was making the most noise in the quiet room. Her loud, shrill laugh would occasionally pierce the room rattling John's nerves. However, it was her brunette friend that caught John's attention. She was pretty, but not gorgeous, with a curvy, "real" build that showed ...
