My dream was not that they invited me over their house for an after-work get-together, but that they had invited me to go sailing with them for the weekend, like they always talked about doing.

As long as I'd known Kyle and Cindy, they sailed every weekend of every summer or just went to the boat for the weekend to barbeque with all of their boat neighbors. Sailing was Kyle's ultimate reason for being and despite differences between him and Cindy, she went along with his passion, though it pained her so when she imagined that she wasn't on the same pedestal, with sailing itself, to him.

It was summer in my dream, wishful thinking subconsciously, I guess. Everything flashes like a movie, as my dreams usually do. I see the three of us getting settled on the boat, stocking the pantry with goodies for the weekend, making sure we've got everything we need before setting sail and Kyle plotting our course to allow enough time to return for work on Monday. It's a windy, sunny day, perfect for sailing, I assume, and everyone around us is doing the same things. The entire time we're preparing, Kyle's got this noticeable smile across his face. I'm confused by it, because I'm not quite sure why he's smiling so intensely. He looks content and pleased in a way, but I'm not sure, maybe he's like this every time he goes sailing.

I then see myself lying topless on the deck of the boat sunbathing to wonderful music, though I can't necessarily place who the artist is, ...
