This starts slow - as it tended to do a lot of years ago. But it does move on, through an assortment of adventures, mis- and otherwise. Some of it seems pretty funny today, but it varied from frustrating to satisfying to great at the time.

There was no dry cleaner close to work, and this one was only about three blocks from home, so that's where he'd been going for a couple of years. The Italian couple that ran the place were very nice, did good work and charged decent rates for cleaning. One thing he had not known was that they had a daughter.

Anita was not just any daughter. She was a real sweetheart. Now that she was working there, the little shop seemed somehow a lot brighter. She'd gone to Berkeley for a couple of years, but was now considering a change of major and also dealing with a need to build up some financial reserves. She hadn't had to work on her first try, but her folks' resources just weren't up to staying with this routine. So, bottom line, she planned to work in the shop for a year and then carry on with her studies.

Andy found new importance in getting his clothes to the cleaners every week. Usually it was no more than a couple of pairs of trousers, but he seemed to wrinkle and/or soil them just too fast. He wasn't aware ...
