I hung my sign bare footed in the summer. "First Times Inc." I was wearing a peasant shirt and a long flowing skirt, but my receptionist was cool and professional behind her desk. I stood for a minute in the hot sun, feet burning on the sidewalk, watching cars drive by.

Of course, they had to get past my receptionist first. She's fabulous. Butter won't melt in her mouth. She'll look up from her typing, trim and lean in her blue suit, and hand them a clipboard with paperwork to fill out. Then she'll schedule an appointment and fill me in on the details.

She came up with the paperwork. She's a genius. Give me five pages of the sort of information only she would think to ask, and I know a virgin's heart, soul and dreams. I know the very core of them. I don't know why I've never kissed her. I should.

One appointment per day. That's the rule. I am no shoddy used-car salesperson, no fast talking corporate jackass. I'm artist, and I do my job with care. That's the whole point isn't it?
