"WHAT?!?!" Annabelle exclaimed, shocked at her father's dinner statement.

"I'm sending you to live with your aunt and uncle at Stonetower. Your aunt is a skilled healer and has offered to help you understand your abilities better," her father said.

"But there's...NOBODY there but them! They haven't had stewards in ages, or maids...or even a town nearby with real people! Just ghosts!" she exclaimed, frustrated.

"No matter. My decision has been made. You're nineteen years old, but you're still my daughter, and until you can get your empathy under control, you'll do as I say." His mind made up, and decision made know, her father took his leave of the table and went to his study. Annabelle stormed upstairs, throwing herself across the bed, thinking back over the past few days.

It had started rather suddenly...she'd been in the midst of making her mother a new mirror frame, carving the wood herself, when the knife she was using slipped, and both sliced a wing off of the angel she'd been working diligently on, and a good chunk of her thumb. Her scream of pain and anger had only been superceded by her mother's cry of pain and her father's bellow at the same time.
