Many women - maybe all women - have a delightful dimple on either side of the base of their spine; some faint, some fainter, but all pretty. Did you know that? Sure you did. In this twenty-first century everyone does who can reach the skin mags on a magazine stand.

But not so many years ago, women were much more mysterious, and everyone didn't know that. The hero of this story sure didn't know, and he was no stupider than most.

Hero? Well, he's the only male in sight, so there's no choice. The heroine? Same reasoning; plus she thoroughly deserves it. Oddly enough, they are referred to here as he and she.

It certainly wasn't for lack of curiosity that he and his friends didn't know about those dimples; nor for want of trying to find out. But even pictures of barenaked ladies were pretty much like hens' teeth, and those that he and his pals did manage to come across were so carefully retouched as to leave almost everything to the imagination. Modern Sears catalogues are more instructive. Vargas' paintings in Esquire were inspiring, but even terminally horny teens could see they bore little resemblance to real women. As for a barenaked lady in the flesh, as it were ........ fat chance!
