Ben played badminton every week with Marion and Paul Salter and they had many enjoyable games. Marion was in her forties and Paul was a bit older and it was somewhat of a surprise when Ben heard about their problems.

He had telephoned to arrange a game and when Marion came on the line she sounded different.

"Are you OK?" he queried.

"A bit upset" she said, "Paul has left me. I think he's found someone else."

"Oh Marion" said Ben, "that's terrible news. I was only ringing to see if we could have another game; I didn't expect this news. Is there anything I can do?"

"Not really" she replied. "Although if you're not doing anything you could help me out with some papers I have to complete to do with our bank accounts. If you're busy, then don't worry."

"I'm not in the least busy. Can I come round now?"

"Would you? That's so kind of you."
