A Day At The Races

The weather had changed from a high on Friday of 85 degrees to an expected high on Saturday of only 55 degrees and rainy, Fall had finally arrived. My normal plans for working in the yard for Saturday were now out of the question. The leaves would still be on the ground when I got home.

I told my wife that since she and the girls had a full day planned for their activities, I was going to head down to the Indian Casino to watch and bet on the Breeder's Cup. The advertisements on the television were really pushing a fun-filled day. I'd never had a better reason to go, although the OTB had been open for over a year. I'm just an amateur horse bettor, but I really enjoy the thrill of good racing, even if it is on monitors and not in person.

Since the race card didn't start until 11:40, I figured if I got to the casino by 10 AM, I'd find a decent seat and possibly a work station with a monitor. I would use the hour and a half to study the race forms and tip sheets to line out my bets.
