Jamie and Misty

Jamie and Misty were at the podium receiving their High School State Basketball Co-Player of the Year Award and while they both had a smile on their respective faces it was a force smile at best. If there was one person in the world they each hated, it was very simply - each other. To know why, you would have to know their history.

The hatred started they both were in the eight grade and playing for the district championship. They both played the shooting guard for the two opposing teams and as luck would have it they ended up having to guard each other. As the game went on the play got a little rougher and they were both doing everything they could to take the other out of the game including fouling hard or throwing an elbow when the referees was not looking. When the game was over and both teams went to shake hands, Jamie and Misty just snarled as they passed.

They went on to high school where they both made the varsity squad as freshman. They played in the same district so their teams played twice during the year and then again in the district and state championships. It was a wonder that they did not come to blows during any of the games but they both knew that they were the main player for their respective teams and without them their team would not win. Their teams always ended up swapping victories. If one team won the first regular season game then the other team won the second. One year one team would win ...
