It was just before midnight when I pulled into the motel parking lot. I was exhausted and couldn't wait to get a room and lie down. After driving for fifteen hours straight I could use a hot shower and a few hours rest.

The motel was located on the outskirts of Atlanta, just off the interstate. It was small and looked to be in good upkeep. The kind you often see near major highways. Yes, this looked to be the perfect place to stop for the night and get some much needed rest before I continued on to Miami in the morning.

I checked in at the desk, and found my room at the top of the stairs on the second floor. I set my bag down in the room and decided to walk over to the store next door and pick up a few things before I settled in for the night. I might be tired as hell, but after sitting in one place and driving all day I might need a couple beers to calm my nerves and help me get some sleep.

On my way back to the room with my six-pack of Icehouse and a stale convenience store sandwich I couldn't help but notice how quiet this night was. It was warm, except for a cool breeze, and the sky was clear. I guess you could say I was in my own world when I heard her voice. At first I wasn't sure if I even really heard it or what had been said. I looked around and didn't see anyone. Then I heard a giggle and a sweet female voice "Help me please." ...
