The NCAA Basketball game played now in the background, it score and significance long since lost in both conversation and a growing quantity of wine. Ricky had come downstairs a couple of hours ago to watch the game alone. Not that he wanted to be alone, just that he did not expect anyone else to be interested. His wife was not into sports and wanted to go to bed early and had done so shortly after getting the kids to sleep for the night. His mother-in-law, Liza, almost never sat still enough to watch TV of any sort and her husband had also retired to their bedroom to watch "some of the game" before going to sleep. So Ricky had gotten a glass of wine from the bar and sat down to enjoy the game. Shortly after the game started, Liza came down to refill her wine glass. She stopped to ask how the game was going and while talking sat down in the chair to watch some of it. Although she probably would not have stayed to watch the game, as they continued to talk more and more animatedly, she seemed more and more inclined to stay put. The wine was certainly loosening their tongues as they talked rather frankly about their sex lives. Ricky found it a bit odd at first to be talking to his wife's mother about his sex life, but after he refilled their glasses a second time, the wine made most any conversation possible.

Sometime after the game ended, unnoticed, they got up to take their glasses over to the bar. Ricky took his and Liza's glass behind the bar and placed them in the sink.
