Greg and I had been buddies all thru high school. Both of us on the football team and we hung with each other all the time. A couple of years ago, Greg's mom (Dori) divorced his dad after she caught him screwing his 20 year old secretary at the office one night. Now Dori was a nice enough looking lady, but she really changed after the divorce. She rarely wore make-up, never wore a dress or even nice slacks, but instead covered herself with a oversized t shirt and a pair of shorty overalls. Her hair was always either curled up inside a baseball cap or tied in a bun on top of her head.

After graduation, Dori got Greg and me to help her to build a new deck off the back of the house. All thru July and August we worked together pouring concrete, pounding nails and building planter boxes. Just after Labor Day, Greg was headed off for the east Coast to a small liberal arts college. The last night before Greg departed, I was having dinner with him and his mom.
