Ugly. This was the first word that entered Kayla's mind as she peered into the mirror. Just plain ugly. Her hair, as always, lay flat against her skull, thin and lifeless. She didn't really have any reason to complain, she reminded herself. She had a great body - large, firm breasts, slender waist, shapely legs. She definitely turned heads wherever she went, but she just couldn't seem to do anything about her hair. It resolutely refused to grow, and when it made a rare exception, the ends invariably broke and split, rendering it an unsightly mess. Oh well, she sighed, turning away from the mirror. Be thankful for what you have, not jealous over what you don't.

She heard a sound coming from the front of the house - the mail! Late as usual - it was nearly 4:00 PM.
