She bent down to retrieve the broken heel that was now wedged in the sewer grate.

" Great! Just what I needed, another annoying event in an already record breaking sucking day! "

Grunting and swearing to herself, she tried to dislodge the stucked heel. Gathering all of her strength, Danaé braced herself and pulled. The heel did come free but it sent her flying on the sidewalk, landing on her ass in a deep rainwater puddle. Taking a deep breath and trying to stay calm, she simply took a look at the heel she was now holding and sighed. She couldn't possibly have amassed so much bad karma as to deserve the day she had just been through. Whomever was keeping the tabs on karma had surely miscalculated! Taking a look at her torn umbrella being blown away by the wind, she simply decided to leave it. Not bothering to even try to run after it. Hell! She was already drenched from the rain anyway.

Sighing one more time, gathering her spilled belongings from the puddle, Danaé slowly started straightening herself. Standing on her own two feet again, although slightly limping from the missing heel, Danaé took the direction of her lonesome home softly singing under her breath :
