A dream?

It was Friday afternoon, I'd left my office, glad that I'd finally made it to the weekend. It had been rainy all week, but at this moment the sun smiled down on me. I didn't wanna go home straight away, so I took a walk through the Village, this bizarre part of this incredible city called New York. The Village had always been the place for people who wouldn't fit anywhere else.

I got off the bus and just walked along the streets, savoring the atmosphere. I passed by a few obscure shops, offering all kinds of mythical stuff. I stopped to look at the window of one of these shops. There wee lucky charms, statues of all kinds of gods and goddesses and lots of things I had no idea what they might be for. I heard a voice from the inside. "Why don't you come in, Miss? I'm sure I've got exactly what you're looking for!"

Curious me, I walked inside. I saw a beautiful black woman, in her thirties probably, smiling at me. "What do you mean? I'm not looking for anything special ..." I reply. She starts laughing. "Everybody is looking for something special. Once you are aware of that, you can start searching for it!" There was something mysterious about her. She seemed to know more about me than the average stranger. "I will help you!" she said, closing her eyes, concentrating. "I can sense your need. You want to be with someone, but you can't." I was stunned. ...
